It was a manual. The Americana guy did a 30 sec feature on it. He talked about the IROC series and how much he loved these cars. Lately a lot of the cars up for sale at Mecum and Barrett are modified. Just like the 1st and 2nd Gen's sellers are now upgrading drivetrains for 3rd Gen's.

It is nice to finally see a few of these cars roll through the block, mod or not, and get some tv time.
I used to own the blue '87 convertible. It is the only blue '87 convertible known to exist today. I put possibly the last set of GM striping in blue available back in 1996. I cut out the "20th Anniversary...." out of the striping, just to make it unique. I did the same thing on my red Z28 convertible.
BTW, Of all the convertibles that I have documented for 1987, only three are blue. Two are IROC-Zs and only this one is a blue Z28. Keeping my eyes out for any factory '87 Camaro convertibles.

Yes, kind of. I sold it to Tim's former father-in-law. He owned it for eight years, give or take. Soon after Tim divorced, his father-in-law sold it to his insurance agent. I believe it sold for $5k. His insurance agent then flipped it for a profit.

For sale at auction: Lot #27 - 20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition. Meticulously cared-for Arizona rust-free car equipped with the 5.0-liter high-output motor. Newly painted with original color and decals. Equipped with automatic overdrive transmission, posi-traction rear end and 4-wheel disc brakes. All appears as originally equipped, except for a high-power Panasonic CD player and receiver, which has been upgraded in the stock location coupled with a Bazooka amp located in the trunk.
First of all, it originally had a custom cloth black interior, not gray.
It is NOT an original Arizona car. I bought it from a guy from Michigan, Michigan plates RUF LES.
It does NOT have an H.O. motor, only an H.O. air filter assembly.
It did not originate with 4-wheel discs, only the IROC-Z could get this option.
It had the original stereo when I sold it.
I have the right mind to call B.J. and give them this information but I am currently out of the country. Would someone be willing to contact them on my behalf?
The guy that services my cars said that he has had interaction with BJ on two cars that they sold. One of them was in his shop for repairs as soon as the owner took delivery from the auction. They found so many things wrong with the car that they sued BJ for a full refund. From what I hear, BJ didn't play nice even after they found all of the misrepresentations. They only care about the sale.
One thing that has always bothered me about "Barn Finds" like you see on some car shows. They clean it up, get it "Running". Put some new fluid in it, and sell it at auctions like BJ. Anybody who's ever bought a car that has been setting knows seals, rubber, gas in the tank, break lines, etc etc go bad. Just because it's running doesn't mean it you won't be rebuilding the engine and tranny, need an exhaust, and replace all the hoses. If it was restored, you "hope" they knew what they were doing.
The '85 IROC-Z found in the trailer went through that kind of inspection. The gas tank was dropped from the car and completely cleaned out, the carb was taken off the car and rebuilt, etc. I remember Keith saying that they flushed every fluid and checked every piece of rubber to be sure it was safe. That's the way it should be. The new owner loves the car and is happy with the purchase, so that's the most important part of a sale.
