new guy on board / v8 swap ?'s
hi there i am new to the board. and i have a 88 camaro 6 banger, want to swap for 8. one thread says that my automatic from my 6 will bolt up to an 8, another thread says it wont. i was under the impression the had the same bolt pattern? other ? all my older builds were old 4 bolt main 350's from the 70's. i wnat to use the 1 piece rear main newer block. are the vortec 350 truck motors 4 bolts? hard to find the camaro 350's. i found alot of305's in the salvage. i am going to go back with a carb motor no fuel inj. i cant stand fuel inj. i more of a old school hot roder " and stubbern " no one can ever convice me inj. is better. this will be my first more modern build. i am more used to 60's and 70's cars.any help i can get i would greatly appreciate..thanks....

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
V6 to V8 swap basics are covered here:

No, your V6 transmission does not have the same bolt pattern as V8's.
I believe Vortec blocks are 4-bolt, but wouldn't swear to it.
When you get to Gen II and III engines, I'd argue that injection is better.
