sbc 400 swap questions
ok so heres the deal i just found a prett good deal on a 400 sbc with heads pistons crank cams etc..almost everything i need but i was wondering what all would be necessary in order to swap from my 305 tbi to the carbd 400? any info would be helpful! thanks! =]

There's a tech article linked from the thirdgen.org homepage that details the EFI to carb swap.
You'll either need to use the 400 starter (gets in the way of 3rd gen headers) of a 153-tooth, 2-piece rear main seal, externally balanced flexplate.
The dipstick will be on the drivers side. What are you planning for exhaust? Stock 305 exhaust manifolds will get in the way of the dipstick tube, and will choke a 400.
Stock 400 heads? If so, junk.
