My neighbor has a 3rd gen T/A that I've been eyeballing for years. In fact, that car is a big reason I bought my old 92 RS back in 03-04ish. Well, I've got the third gen itch again and I may actually be getting his car. For either real cheap or free.

I highly doubt the engine is going to be working. It's been sitting for years and years, and unfortunately I don't know what year the car is. However, I'm trying to figure out give or take how much it would cost to get a decently quick 350ci in there. I don't really mind if it's a TPI, LT1 or even just some old 350 truck engine.

Anyone have any kind of estimate on how much an endeavor like this would cost me? I'm trying to find out if it's worth it before I go deeper into my research only to learn I will definitely not be able to afford it!

Find out how much the engine you'll be installing will cost, then double it. That should get you close, assuming you do all the work yourself. If you want a shop to install it, take the doubled figure and double it again.

So, a $1000 will probably run $2000 by the time you get everything running. If a shop installs a $1000 engine, plan on a $4000 total (since the car has been sitting, little things like leaks and electrical issues are sure to come up, to say nothing about rotten gas).
