Is it possible to retrofit our TPI intake, runners and all, onto an LS1 block or will it only fit an LT1 block? Reason I am asking is I will be working on a new 350 bare block and building from there and I've been looking at the LSX 350 block for about 1000 to 1500 horses, or more like clydesdales!

Thanks!

Re: TPI intake on an LS1 block?
no.

Doesnt fit LS1 block.

Only way it could happen if you make a custom lower for the LSX motor, and have the TPI runner/plenum setup on the LSx lower intake. WAY too much effort for something that will end up not running good anyway. LSX stuff is good stuff, dont try to take modern tech and throw old school stuff on it

CAN redrill the TPI stuff and throw it on a LT1 and they did at one time make a superram setup for the LT1 so you could use that base and add runners but it again would be a waste of time as LT1's have a decent intake manifold as is.

Re: TPI intake on an LS1 block?
I would like to have an LSx for its aluminum weight, and the fact that it's so potent when you build it right. I was just wondering about the TPI. I've always liked a custom TPI setup with the runners, but if means cutting performance, looks go out the window first. I guess an LSx with aftermarket intake crossovers and throttle body will do the trick. I knew about boring out the runners to allow more air, but I wasn't sure if you could adapt that to an LSx block. Thanks for the input.

Any other suggestions as far as the swap goes: mounts, spacing, clearance issues etc, and more in the intake area would be greatly appreciated.

Get you an aluminum Gen 1 block & keep the TPI & save the weight.

But be ready for sticker shock, when you price an aluminum Gen 1 block!

LS1 uses a LTR setup like TPI

The only benefit from mounting a TPI intake on a LSx block would be for looks

LS1 is obviously nothing like TPI.

And actually, they are mid-length. Not as long as TPI, not as short as LT1.

Re: TPI intake on an LS1 block?
Depending on year, cam, transmission and displacement, stock TPI SBCs made peak tq at 2800-3200, and peak hp at 4000-4400. The Truck LSx engines have the most-TPI-like intake, but these make peak tq at 4000, though they offer 90% of that down below 2000 rpm, and peak hp up at 5200. They just won't fit under a stock hood. And besides, who needs low-end when you can just get a looser torque converter.
