91 Z28-LB9 Roller Motor or Not???

This may be a stupid question to some of you, but Im not sure when GM started putting roller motors in these cars. So my 91 Z has its original 65K miles LB9 motor and wanted to know if its a roller motor or not?

Thanks!
Travis

Thanks 57kid, this helps! You must sleep and answer posts on here at the same time! 32,505 posts....Amazing! Are these motors good ones? I know a 350 or 383 etc would be better, but this is what I have. Its a TPI motor as well.

They are deadass reliable, but not very powerful. Basically it just doesn't breathe, makes some low-end power. I had one it was a rock solid engine I have to give it credit there. I was very hard on that engine, and it took it all. If you keep the oil changed and the motor in tune, it will last you a long time...

Thanks J91..... Is there some improvements that can be made to squeeze a little more power from it with out breaking the bank?

Re: 91 Z28-LB9 Roller Motor or Not???

K & N Airfilters, I have a pair $30 shipped, less than 10K on them.
Headers will help alot, look on exhaust forums.
I had an MSD distributor in mine, it helped alot across the whole powerband, really smoothed things out.
An airfoil for the Throttle Body on the TPI helps too, I may have one? Will have to check.
It's all about making them breathe, once they do and parts are installed you can get a Prom Chip for the ECM or have yours re-programmed, that helps compliment the up grades.... Pm me if you want those air filters, they are washable and will last forever...
