I have a 1987 firebird formula with a 305 5.0 L automatic tranny. I would like to know if i can swap it with a 350 chev and will the tranny bolt up?

You realize that the 5.3 takes just as much to swap as a LS1, right? That isn't anywhere near a straight bolt in like the 350 could be.

 

but worth it in the end.. yes.

 

Try to start off first with finding out what gears you have in the rear end. I don't know about the formula but the trans am 305tpi auto had 2.73 and no matter how big of an engine you put in it its gonna suck. So start off with that and change them if you have the crappy 2.73 and see how much of a difference you feel.
