NO, the LT1 isn't like your average small block. Coolant flows the opposite way. So this changes the whole way the engine is internally. If you want a LT1 like intake for your L98 get a Miniram.

ok why would you want an lt1 in your car? first they lack the low end grunt the l98 has second after you get a good exhaust and a fuel regulator on the car they lack the upper rpm power that my l98 has. it is a lose lose proposition. i don't think that the lt1 was all it is cracked up to be.

What if you put a full exhaust and AFPR on an LT1? Then it would be just as nasty as any L98 with similar mods. Both engines are *relatively* equal. The L98 makes a little more grunt down low and the LT1 walks them on the top end because it can SPIN up in the rpms. I've had both and modified both. On a pure ease of swap level, the L98 would be easier since a 90 Iroc should already have been TPI.

I think of it this way - if I'm going to gear the hell out of my car then I want an engine that will make power at high rpms.

If I were to pick between those two engines for a swap as an internally stock engine for street use and an occasional dusting I would pick the L98 since it's the easier swap and because it makes that little extra ooomph off the line.

If I were planning any level of mods like cam/head work I'd go for the LT1. It has high compression, high rpm, and if you change the pistons it loves nitrous.

LT1 all the way, unless you're worried about the difficulty of the swap.

How many stock L98s are there out there that'll hang with or beat a stock LT1? I haven't seen it happen yet. There's a difference between 245hp and 285hp. The torque figures are closer than the HP, but on the top end the HP helps win the battle.

I'd much rather have my LT1 than an L98. I had an LB9, which produced its fair share of torque, and I actually still own one...but the LT1 is much more fun, overall.
