ok. what the hell are the advantages/disadvantages of the various types of pistons. flat top, dished, domed, hollow domed, solid dome, etc etc etc. i have no idea what the differences are. i want to buy some for my future 400. thanks rick

Where do I start... a dished piston will give you less compression than a flat top or a dome. you will get the best flame travel in the cylinder with a flat top. If you want a pump gas motor you would be better off with a flat top piston and 76cc combustion chamber heads, that will give you a good 10.1 compression motor. Or you can go with the dished pistons and use the 64cc heads this will also give you 10.1 but a smaller combustion chamber head shrouds the valves more than a larger one so it does not let it flow as well. As fare as a hollow dome Vs. a solid dome you would use a hollow dome piston in a naturally asperated motor to save weight and you would use a solid dome piston in a nitrous or boosted combanation for strength.
