What would be the best street engine?
Ive got a 1992 RS 3.1L with a 5speed and Im wanting to put in a V8 soon. What would be the best engine to use that would be fuel injected and get good MPG but would have enough power to kill any normal *****, mustang, etc.. ??? And Im wantin to bolt the T56 to it too. So any ideas? Thanks!

Really??? I thought maybe a Type-R engine or something. I KNOW A SB WOULD BE BEST! Just what kind? TPI, LT1, LS1, etc....

Can you use your current trans? I don't think you can but what ever. I'd just get a 350 and carb it and get headers. I'd also try and get a good set of heads. That's all. You don't need aluminum heads to make great hp. Dart makes some great heads. Also do you need EGR in the heads? If not then you've got the advantage. Also look for a roller cam, not flat.

No way I can use my current tranny. I might just drop in a 3.4L and keep my tranny and just mod the hell outta the 3.4.

400 SBC (no substitute for cubic inches). If you don't have emissions to worry about, go to carb as you will be able to develop the power a lot cheaper than with EFI.
I hear you on the fuel economy, but power requires fuel and the more power you want to make, the more fuel you have to burn. EFI with Overdrive will help you get reasonable mileage on the highway, but they still burn a lot of gas in the city. Also, you need a decent compression ratio to develop power and that requires premium fuel...more money.
The bottom line is, if you want the power, then you'll have to pay the fuel bill. If you are concerned with fuel economy, stick with the V6 and get a power adder. And they burn fuel when you hit the juice/boost.
