Question
I have or had a 1987 V6 camaro 2.8MPFI. I blew the engine. Now i need to get the car running. I need to know what is the cheapest way I can get the car going again.
I have a rebuilt 350 in pieces in the basement, and a tranny to go with it. I know with a V8 swap I have to swap alot of parts.
The other option I have is to have the 2.8 redone and put back in,
or can upgrade to a 3.4. I am kind of partial of sticking with the V6.
What would be involved in upgraded the 2.8 to a 3.4. Would i need a new block and such?
My friends are suggesting the v8 but its a lot of work and alot of money, plus I just put $900 into my 700R4.
Any opinions?

There was a topic like this on the V6 board. The conclusion there, if l remember correctly, was that the 3.4 was a drop in replacement for the 2.8 and the 3.1. The reason is they are 60* vs 90* for the 3.8.
Also, in the december 99 issue of Hot Rod magazine, under the topic Classified Information on pg 133, they say that engine was "...intended for retrofitment in early S-10 trucks" (the guy was referencing a Cherokee in the question.) Also, "..it offers significant gains in power and durability."
So I wouldnt see why not. Good luck.
