Getting started... the block

I am making a 383 for a swap. The first thing I need is the engine block... mainly, its gotta be a 350 with a single piece rear main seal. How can I tell if an engine my buddy has sitting in his garage is one? Visually, casting numbers?
Thanks,
Douglas

AS far as the one peice rear main...just look at it.

If you want an I.D. on what it is get the casting # (located on the rear ledge of the block where the top trans bolts are) and go to www.mortec.com and check them out.
