boring 305 to 383

As the title says I want to bore my 305 out to make a 383 stroker. My question is how much does it need to be bored out. Sorry I suck at math and I did a search with no luck.

Re: boring 305 to 383

you cant. You have to use a 350 block. And its not the bore that makes a big difference in a 383, its the stroke, you change the stroke from a 3.48 to a 3.75.

Yes, you need a 350 block. Boring 78 inches out of a 305 would put you somewhere inside the water jackets.

If you want to build a 383, yes.

You could start looking for an already-built 383. Up to you.

Re: boring 305 to 383

thanks everybody. I had someone giving me wrong info. I am just going to look for a 350 block and build up from there. There seems to be plenty on Craigslist.
