Hey I just bought an '87 Firebird and its got a v6. I want to end up putting a 350, 396, or a 454 in it. But I've been told that since its a t-tops car that the torque could twist the frame. Would I have to put a roll cage in the car or are there easier ways to reinforce the frame?

A good solid set of sub fram connectors will help enough for a nice 350 or a mild 396/454. A radical big block might need a 6 point roll bar to help things out a bit. Other than that, shouldnt be a big deal.

In my opinion, subframe connectors should be the first modification done to any 3rd gen f-body. My Berlinetta #1 was a V6 car, non-T-top, and it had cracks in the roof at the door corner. These cars just aren't stiff enough, but sub-frame connectors do wonders.

Okay, now that i have found subframe connectors on summit racing, which is better; bolt on or weld on? Which has a better chance at being more durable and could be stronger? And which of the connectors on the following links are the best? Or do you know of better ones?

I put SFC in my car within the first week I owned it. I now have a full cage and still have T-tops.
Weld in SFC are better. Many people buy the bolt in ones then get them welded later. Because of the amount of body flex, bolt in only will eventually loosen or elongate the mount holes.

That is the cheap ones i have, they do great, i would tell the difference right away.
The support the LCA very well.
