305 TBI to 350 TBI, how much $$$
305 TBI to 350 TBI, how much $$$
How much would it cost me to swap my 305 TBI to a 350 TBI? I've heard that to have a cam, intake, and headers installed on the 305, I would end up with the same power as a stock 350 HO TBI. I don't want to get rid of the TBI setup cuz I don't think it's that bad of a system, and I don't want to get all the TPI wiring and fuel lines. I want something in the 300 hp range, and that would be few mods on a 350. I'm not a mechanic, I don't own a cherry picker or an engine stand, so I can't do it myself. I've also heard that you can trade in the used 305 and get at least a little cash. So how much would I be looking at?
P.S. I know you've seen this EXACT same post what, 100-200 times? but PLEASE respond to this one, I'm thinking about doing it this summer, and i don't want to buy a cam, intake, and headers, if I'm going to discard the engine.

umm a cam intake and headers will not give you the same power as a 350 HO crate engine, if that is what you meant.
you will get MAYBE 250 horse after these mods (depending of course on parts you use), which is still pretty good though.
how much money do you want to spend? its not a cheap swap if someone else is doing it for you. not at all...they will pretty much rape you. haha.
no, but its not that hard to do yourself. it really isnt. i did mine myself, and i'm not a "mechanic" either...i just did my homework and took my time. everything ended up ok after a few small problems at the beginning.
i dont really know to be sure, but i bet if you were giong to bring it somewhere to get it done (IF you could find someone to do it) it will run you at least a grand PLUS the cost of the motor. unfortunately its not a cheap thing to get done.
