400 block

Will the 400 block fit in my formula with no problems. there is a 305 in it. what would be the best rods, and pistons to get for the 400 block. this is what i am thinking of doing:

400 block w/splayed main caps
bore it to .030 in over
stroke it 3.75

What else do yall think i should do.

Good call on the splayed conversion, use a 2 bolt block. Cheap insurance. If it's doesn't need bored, I wouldn't. It's your lucky day, you ALREADY have 3.75" of stroke.

Buy 1 3/4 headers, buy good heads and upgrade to a bigger radiator.

You'll need to either internally balance it ($'s), or get an external balance flexplate and damper. The 400 flexplates all seem to be 14". Starter mounts have also been discussed as a problem area here - the word seems to be to get the block drilled & tapped for straight-across starter mounting bolts.
