Question about the ever-popular 350 H.O.
Ok, "Pullmeoverred" asked this in his post about this engine, but it never seemed to be addressed. I want to swap this engine into my '87 Lg4 car, because it seems to the most "bang-for-your-buck" as far as engine upgrades. But is a stock 700-R4 going to be able to handle this? I figure the best time to replace or rebuild the tranny is at the same time the engine gets done, but should I simply rebuild it, or get something beefier? A TH-400 might be a decent upgrade, but I think a rebuild would be more cost effective if it's a viable possibility.

A slight built th700r4 can handle something like 400hp and 450 ft-lbs. They were used it trucks so they had to be able to handle torque from larger engines. The best idea is to get it rebuilt with a higher stall converter, trans cooler, and a shift kit so the clutch lasts longer. Maybe even the vette servo. I know I'm bolting up my trans up to the 350ho so it better handle the power. I'm more worried about getting an aluminum drive shaft and new rear end (3.08 peg leg).

Ok, as far as I know, the only things I need along with the engine would be headers, and intake manifold right? But which ones? Can anyone with this engine tell me whats worked for them? Also, is the good ole Q-jet gonna cut it, or should I upgrade that as well? Thank you for your help.
