Realistic swapping time? (2.8 for 2.8)
I've doing a 2.8 for 2.8 swap soon, and was wondering how long a swap would take if we had the car all prepped & ready. As in, the alternator/AIR pump/exhaust/intake/etc were removed, all wiring connections unhooked, trans undone except for 2 or 3 bolts, all hoses un-hosed, etc, and all that's left is to yank the melted 2.8 and put the good one in.
I'd like to think it would take just a day. We'll be renting an engine hoist, and the shorter we have it, the better. We'll do all the hookups another day.
Thanks!

TomP,
It should only take you under 3 hours to remove and install the 2.8 motor. That is assembling the engine hoist, remove/install the motor, and disassembling the hoist.. If I may make a suggestion, why not install the accessories onto the new motor now. With that 2.8 motor, you'll have enough space in the engine to maneuver the motor into the engine bay.

3 hours, eh? Does that include breaks, and BS'ing?
Thanks for the info! That's true, we could install everything... but I think I'd rather just do the engine alone. That's the part I've never done before, and I'd rather have as much room as possible. Accessories aren't something I'd want to worry about at the same time (well, save for the water pump)... I'd rather my "first" swap be as un-detailed as possible.
Thanks again!
