hey im new to the board but i need to say that if you need to ask,you shouldnt try to do it alone!find a friend that has done it before and bribe them to help.theres a lot more involved than pullin a few things here and there.plus theres the danger factor.dont try it alone.i never pull a motor by myself.ill always have someone to spot me and ive been pullin motors 15 yrs. its just good shop safety.ill never tell someone not to work on their own ride its fun and you take pride in it when its done knowin YOU did it!!get in and get greasy but get someone that has experience to assist/guide you.

HAVE FUN!!!

I would write down step by step but I am sure I’ll probably leave something out. It is better to buy a Chilton’s or equivalent manual. The manual will list the steps for you. As chevcam1 had stated, DO NOT TRY IT ALONE.

Their are some bolts on the back of the heads which hold the wire looms, air tube to the catalytic converter and etc. It is hard to remove those bolts with the motor in place. I would suggest that you pull the motor out slowly and try to undo do the bolts when you get enough room to get a socket in place. As far as lifting the motor out, you can connect the fittings that came with chain to your manifold bolts. Best way to do it is on the passenger’s side use the manifold bolt closes to the front of the motor. On the diver side, use the manifold bolts closes to the firewall (rear) of the motor.
Hope this helps, anymore questions, just ask.

sorry i didnt mean to sound like a jerk. just wanted to make sure you keep all your limbs!if you can change an aircraft eng you shouldnt have any probs. i wouldnt dream of diving in there. but i can cut a car in 1/2, put it back together, make it go down the road straight and not worry about it comin apart!anyone thats pulled a motor can help, fbody experience is not mandatory just automotive in general.

like i said before have fun
