385 Fast Burn swap

with a HOT cam and 1.6 rocker arms the motor gets 430 Horse and 430 FT./Pounds for 4,000. Is this worth the money? will it fit in a 86 alright? will i stiil be able to use the carb, intake etc. Thanks for your advice.

I was thinking about doing this, but you can also get the ZZ4 355 for $3000 and upgrade it later. Or do a mix, have Sallee upgrade the cam and do heads/rockers later, something like that. If you do it yourself, i think you would save some money. Sell the stock heads and pick up the Fastburns ($500) and rockers later.

For under $4000 and over $3000 i think i would look at a stroker from someplace like enginefactory.com. The only downside to that is you don't get the GM warranty.

The motors not specifically setup for one setup, so carb, etc would be fine. Actually if you look at Sallee, they'll even set you up with a tuned carb, break it in, all kinds of stuff.

If you have emission worries, you may look at the GM kit to do an emissions legal swap.

www.sallee-chevrolet.com

Talk to Tom He Knows his stuff. I also bought a Holley Carb from them tuned for the zz430. They have a dyno and know what works best. Other Things From salle I bought Include black wire loom, Wires, Centerbolt wire Looms, They also went through a Hei for me so it would advance right for the Motor.
If your asking me about the tranny, I bought a used tranny from a 96 bird (t56)
