Update on 2.8/2.8 swap: Unbolting the Trans
Well, for those of you that want to know (as I did last week) how in the heck you remove the transmission to engine bolts while leaving the tranny in the car- here's how we did it! We did have to remove the crossmember to lower the trans, but it wasn't as big a production as I remember from my trans swap.
Here's the message:

Thanks to all that helped me make the decision to "just" pull the engine- looks like it's working out so far!

Right on! I am pulling a 2.8 out of my 87 Firebird right now. I unbolted the Ypipe last night, 3 of the 4 bolts broke in half!!! Made it an easy job. My T5 tranny wasnt too bad to unbolt from the bellhousing. Motormounts were kinda bitchy. Im ready to hook my lift to it now and get her out! Do you think I can slide the motor forward on the lift and leave the T5 in? I dont want to have to remove the whole tranny and driveshaft.

I hope you can; because that's what we plan to do!
Watch out for the radiator, if you haven't removed it yet.

I did a 2.8...3.4 conversion...and I took the radiator out...it does not really get in the way..but just in case ya know....but I left my tranny hooked up...made taking it all out...a breeze.....but once I got everthing done and put it back in...my tranny went out..so I had to swap that out to..so if you have any questions...the work is still fresh in my brain...
