TPI fuel system
TPI fuel system
Ok I'm in the process of swapping a TPI into a TBI car. Last weekend I changed the fuel pump. The new TPI fuel pump looked exactly like the old TBI fuel pump so all I did was swap them. I didn't change the sending unit because everything fit right up. Will this work? Also the fuel lines on the TPI fit right up to where the old TBI lines were on the drivers side of the motor, so I hooked them up. My friend has a TPI car and the fuel lines look exactly the same as the ones on the TBI. If thats the case, why is everyone changing them. I don't feel like pulling the rear and gas tank back out of the car again because it was a big pita the first time. I don't have the motor running yet because I'm waiting for my wiring harness to come back from Howell.
So again, my questions are; Will the new fuel pump work in the old sending unit? Can I use my old fuel lines?
Thanks

'88 IROC TPI 355, fully balanced, 9.75:1 compression, fully ported '70 truck heads(for now), Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Comp Cams TPI cam, fully ported '90 speed density TPI with '86 base so it fits older style heads, Crane AFPR, Flowmaster 3in. exhaust, Edelbrock TES headers, all emissions equipment is still intact, plan on burning my own chips, many more mods and parts on the way as time and money permits =(
Best E.T. with TBI 305: 16.11 @ 82mph
Haven't been to track with new motor
Won bracket races at Numidia Raceway with my '70 Nova
In memory of Dale Earnhardt, I'll miss cheering for that black #3 on raceday!!!

I am not sure what comes on your car stock, but if the fuel lines are rubber, anywhere in the system, they should be replaced. Also a fuel return line off the FPR is required, again if you don't have one already. Hope this helps a little.
