What to expect from swap

I purchased a 89 firebird with a 305 tbi and as my first car i love it but I am becoming into a gearhead and not just someone whos car is faster than it seems....I have read countless post on making a 305 tbi run faster and even though it will be faster in the end it is alot of work and money....I am leaning towards buying a used 350 tpi from a junkyard with computer and wires for around 800 bucks....I am going to have it rebuilt and bored out for bigger pistons.....I am going to put a new cam,and more goodies along the way.....I havnt ourchased the engine because i am rebuilding my transmission as we speak......What hp level would i be looking at if i just get the used engine and rebuild it to stock....what hp can i get out with cam, forged pistons, full exhuast from headers to catback......And what should i buy in order to make the trtansplant successfull....I think i am going to buy a painless wiring kit...do i have to do anything to the computer....

Hey dude! You are going in the right direction with the painless kit.Just make sure you are getting everything like map sensors or anything with what year model and most every thing will be a snap with a few headaches every now and then.Find out what year it is to see what differences between the two cars.Just go for it.

Stock motors on different years have different HP ratings.BEtween 215-245 I believe.Get a torque convertor for the trans.so it won't bogg of the line if you put in a good cam over the peanut cam.
