that completly depends on how you get the 300hp. cams, heads, ignitions, well everything will change your horsepower decreasing MPG. EFI play a big part too. at 155hp my 85 ta (305) gets roughly 19mpg. at 275hp my buddies LT1 (350) gets 19mpg. his has way more power and bigger size but the engine is built so well and since it has TPI and i have (bows shamefully) computer controlled carb, his gets the same mileage. if i tried to get 275hp out of my 305 by doin cam, heads, valves and ignition, i would probably be arround 12-13 MPG. hell my vette gets about 12 and it has 325hp.

Hi kiztope, I noticed your working with a 3.1L V6 RS, my question is because I want to do a swap from a V6 to a V8, "What and how did you re-wire for the V8, if I'm using a donor car (1992 X-police Camaro 350) do I have to just take the engine wire harness from the computer under the dash all the way through the engine compartment and swap it with the one in the Police car. Did you have any problems with your swap to a 350?

Havent done the swap yet, just planning it for next summer....
But to answer your question,
You do need the wiring harnass, the ecm, and just about everything else that bolts to the engine. The stuff in the 6 wont work.

Head to Houston, this town has everything, you can get them at police auctions if your REAL lucky, I'm still looking at local junk yards, don't have it yet, but a person can buy all that police stuff on the net for Camaros if you want the beefy springs and sway bars. IF you want to buy one out right, from a private seller, there is one on AutoTrader.com, the guy wants $7,500 bucks because he added some stuff.

let me know how your swap goes, I want to give it a shot someday when my V6 dies, I've done Transmission pulls and motor pulls before, no big deal there but this swaping of wires can really run a person into a jam.
