Tall Valve Cover Problems.
I was wondering if any one else has had any problems with the alternator and AIR bypass valve hitting thier tall valve covers. We bent the tube coming off of the smog pump and ground down the nub on the back of the alternator to clear mine. The alternator still rubs against the valve cover but the valve is out of the way. Another question is will the connecter on the back of the alternator cause any probs if it is actually touching the valve cover?
Thanks
Robert

It will cause major problems if it is hitting the valve cover. I took my alternator to a local rebuild shop and had them put in a stud in place of the larger post. I then screwed the nut on the stud and cut it off. I also put a boot (kinda like a spark plug boot) over the wire/connector so it is insulated from the tall valve cover. It is still fairly close but it doesn't touch.
