I'm putting a 396 in my 91 Camaro, I'm looking to not drop yet another $500 on an after market k- member. If it helps a lot I might. What did anyone else do? I'm looking to run long tube headers. Thanks!

Check the BBC swap sticky. Some started with the tubular crossmember.

Re: K- member

lots of people have done a big block swap. i think the largest problem is hood clearence and exhaust. i know hooker makes a bbc swap header for 500-600 bucks

Re: K- member

I checked the BBC Swap sticky but my eyes hurt after reading 2 pages. I'm just seeing if its worth dropping 500 bucks on one, if I can do a little weld and hammer job on some headers to get them to exit where I need them to.

Re: K- member

unless you want to shave sum weight i dont really see a point. bbc and sbc have the same motor mounts so itll even bolt up to you trans where it sits. the problem is its longer so it the front is farther forward and its taller(hood clearence) and the bbc swap headers from hooker are set up for a direct swap. the only thing about them is i believe they sit out side of the frame rails. might be a problem for sub frame connectors but other than that i think its pretty easy to rig up a dual exhaust off of them

Re: K- member

Okay, I did install sub frame connectors and some frame rails, I am running my exhaust by the rockers have the primaries dump before the rear tires and the exhaust cutout pipes dump right after the fronts (like project x)
