87 LT Rebuild
Hi i have an 87 Lt Camaro with the origional 305 and auto tranny. This winter i am going to take apart the car and try to save it.
I want to give it a little more power and want to know should i just build my 305 because of rarity of car (will it add value later?) or should i just build the 350? 305 is starting to burn oil and 350 needs a rebuild (have both engines). I am on a budget. I did buy a weiand street warrior intake and holley carb to run it. (holleys on my other engine now and lt parked in garage ready to be taken apart.)
I will keep posting my progress and info is greatly appreciated!

Re: 87 LT Rebuild
i would say forget value later cause the cars really are not worth much in the first place go for power and sell the 305 for more money for the 350 that is what i would do.

Re: 87 LT Rebuild
yeah i think i'm going with the 350. I did some research and looking at these for the bottom end:
-cast eagle crank
-dome pistons (something like 11-12.5:1 compression)
-reconditioned or I Beam rods

Re: 87 LT Rebuild
Its been a while since this idea and now is in motion.
So i changed my mind and im going with a scat 383 kit, forged pistons, rods, and cast crank. I also am doing a Super T-10 Borg Warner 4-speed swap in the car also.
As of now the rear is possibly going to be ford 9" with 3.70 gears.
Anyway so the past 2 weekends or so, my buddies and i have been tearing the car apart. She is rough around the edges but its a decent project. Needs new floor panels and body could use some help.

Engine + tranny gone..
