Question, i hope u Guru TPI's can help me with???

Its sort of a long story, but ill get to the point. Bought this motor in the sig, from a junked firebird which i know was a 305 TPI,and a manual 5 speed. Being the idiot that i am i asked the guy what year the firebird and he said 90'. DIdnt bother to check the vin or see if it was a MAF or Speed density. When i got the motor all i got was the motor harness and computer. MY question is What are the differences on 305 TPI's in 87'- 88'. IM sure to u guys it dosent matter, but im really getting fustrated. I have no clue if its an 87' or 88' PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP AND DONT MAKE ANY SMART REMARKS. THANK U

there is no diffrence between a 1987 and a 1988 TPI intake other than the injector size(19lbs=305 22lbs=350)
1985 throught 1988 TPI intakes are the same(except in 87 GM went with a different bolt pattern for the intake base)
1989 is the same as a 1988 TPI intake except GM got rid of the cold start injector
1990 is when GM went with the SD system

Well some performance parts say for 82-87 camaros and some say 88-92. Believe it or not and just the though of not knowing what year motor i have is really annoying.

If it is an 86 it will have perimeter bolt valve covers which means it doesn't have a roller cam. It will also have a cold start injector (9th injector). If it is an 87 up it will have centerbolt valve covers meaning it has factory roller cam. Now, if it doesn't have a cold start injector on the TPI, it is an 89up. If the plenum has a MAP sensor on the side behind the runners (or a flat machined spot there with 2 tapped holes) it is a 90-92 engine. 88-92 engines had serpentine belt accessory drives.

There seems to be a mistake, I had the motor rebuild, and its a roller cam, i saw the roller lifters. Anyway i checked on back of the computer and saw its an 87-88 not 89. Like i said the reason im asking is cause of performance parts saying for 85-87 camaro or for 88-92 camaro.

speed density plenums have lines on the plenum that dont follow all the way down the plenum maf cars have lines that extend almost to the tb 88 haas a serpentine belt just for giggles you can look at the fuel line extensions on an 88 they wrap under the alternator which is on the driver side 87 and earlier go over the ac compressor.you can also look on the passenger side rear of block by bellhousing ridge to see what it is it will say 5.0L g,h or 5.7L etc.

If its an 87 or older it'll have a v-belt and serp setup. It will also have a cold start injector, identifying it as a MAF system.

Thats the only diff I could think of... 87 had the 5 rib serpentine and v-belt 'hybrid' setup and 88s have a single 6 rib serpintine. Both years have rollers, centerbolts and cold start injectors, and maf systems.

89 is maf w/o the cold start injector. 90 went speed density.
