Pontiac 400 with T-5?

Can I do this. I currently have a 305 TBI w/T-5. What would I need to do to make the 400 work with the T-5? Thanks for your help.

T5's like to go boom. They make a replacement Tremec that Forte's Parts Connection in Waltham MA sells. Should be strong enough behind a 400.

no it wont mount up, the pontiac has a different bolt pattern. i dont know if a company makes a custom bellhousing for your application or not. and no the stock t5 wount hold up to pontiac's tourqe. it would be easier to go with a TH350 or find a 200R4 out of a BOP. hope this helps

It will mount up, you just need a different bellhousing. Thats really no big deal on a manual trans car... probably should have a better one than stock anyway. I saw more than a few Pontiacs at a car show a couple weeks ago with Tremecs, so I'm sure the T-5 will fit too.

BTW I wanted to add that the Pontiac engines always have lots of torque, so like said above it probably wont last and will eat a T-5 for breakfast.
