I have a '91 chevy stepside with a 305 TBI 5spd. I am ready to install my '72 454 (9.5 to 1 comp., .515" 216 degree @.050 crane cam, etc...)and want to use the Edelbrock multiport fuel injection replacement for a stock 454 TBI truck to facilitate the swap and accomodate the extra CFM requirements the stout 454 will have. Will the stock computer and wiring harness work with the 454 (without the smog pump the 454's had)Am I getting into a rats nest? Besides motor mounts, exhaust, serpentine set up, and a new clutch, all I should need (?) is a 454 chip I hope. Any help at all I'd appreciate.

I am quite sure that you would need a computer and probably the wiring harness and sensors from a 7.4L Chevy/GMC that originally had throttle body injection. The kit comes with a piggyback adapter that connects to the factory computer. Also, the kit is calibrated for a stock cam and stock heads(although the book says you can use Edelbrock aluminum heads also).

I would consider getting the Performer RPM Pro-Flo EFI System for big block Chevys part number 3550. This kit would have everything you would need to do the swap, including fuel pump and computer. And, you can pick from a selection of chips depending on your cam/heads/exhaust combo. I installed the similar kit on my 400 small block (part number 3500)and it came with EVERYTHING I needed except intake gaskets.
