OK
Let's say I have a brand new 350 engine block. I have a crank for a 383 stroker. I have 5.7" H-beam rods. And, I have 383 pistons.
What do I need done to the block? I know it needs to be bored, but do I have to clearance the block in any spots to stup the rods from hitting anything? And it's going to have a big cam with lost of lift, like .530 lift. Will the rods need to be machined to clear the lobes on the cam?
Anything else I need to know about this?

You absolutely need to get your block clearenced for the stroker crank. Any good amchine shop can do this for about $100. I honestly don't know about your cam question. I wouldn't think so though. My cam has .510 lift on the exhaust and Ive had no problem. Also theres folks running a lot bigger cams than ours and I've never heard anything about clearence problems. Hope I could help.

Do a search on 383 in the tech, tpi, and motor swap sections, and you should get all the info you can stand.

if you could get one the new 1 piece cranks in the 383 crate engine it supposedly fits without clearancing the block it has a 3.80 stroke, which makes roughly 382 cu in without having to bore the new block 388 with a .30 over bore as for the cam you should be ok with the 5.7 inch rods

Really?! that would save me a WHOLE lotta time and money. I'm using the 1 piece rear main seal crank and block, thanks for the info!
