where to get a 350 short block
where to get a 350 short block
I want to put a 350 short block in my 87 305 tpi. I want to know where i can get a good short block from and for how much. In one of the other posts i saw something about different flywheels could someone explain this please. Also will 305 heads with some pocket and bowl porting & polishing and a three angle valve job work well. I know they won't flow as well a 350 heads but the compression ratio will be up a little and the valves will be unshrouded some. or am i just better off with some heads for a 350, which is more cost effective.thanks in advance

If you plan on continuing on building this car up and always wanting more power I would start with a new short block. Then work on building the rest of the car as you get money like I have been doing.

If you really want one in a hurry, most auto parts stores like autozone and advance sell short and long blocks. Since you don't have the same engine to swap in you will probably lose your core charge. I just priced a couple long blocks at autozone last week. An 86 and up long block (one piece rear seal) was $999. and an 85 and older was $699. I would think an old style 350 short block could be had for about $500 plus core charge.
