While browsing the Summit catalog, I saw a listing for Camaro motor mounts, left and right side. In my 1987 Corvette chassis, the mounts appear the same, though I have not measured them.

The reason for my question, I wish to move the motor rearward in my car, 1/2 inch. Rather than modify the frame, are there any factory mounts that will move the motor rearward? Are these compatible with the Corvette supports that capture the mounts, a horizontal bolt.

Failing that, are there any that will move the motor vertically 1/4 inch.

The driveshaft,the rear transmission mount are not a problem. Nor is the firewall. Just the motor mounts.

Realize you guys may have more experience with motor mounts, please be patient with me.

 

Im not aware of any rubber mounts that locate the engine differently... but there are solid mounts out there that Im sure you could find that would locate the engine in a different spot. That would introduce alot of vibration of course.

Why do you wanna change it?

 

Installing some Nascar headers, 18 degree, that fit overall better than the aftermarket Corvette headers, + they are equal length, 1-3/4" stepped to 2", and stainless.

After making adapters for the 23 degree aluminum heads, the right header, #2 cylinder, is 1/8 inch away form the rt. front a-arm pivot. Would feel more comfortable with a litle more room.

1/4 inch up, or 3/4 inch back should do it. I say should, for nothing in a modification works smoothly.

 

In my travels around the web I seem to remember that I read, somewhere, that camaro/bird mounts sit the engine lower in the chassis. Hence the different part #'s. Maybe the corvette is the same way and a caprice mount will do what you need.
