LT1 question
LT1 question
ok, Ive had my LT1 in now for about 8 months now and Ive been thinking of ways to clean up all of the wiring and basically just make the whole engine compartment more eye friendly. one of the things that is a real eye sore is the whole air intake. does anyone know how I would go about changing the system to speed density instead of MAF? it would greatly help to get all of that out of the way and would get rid of alot of my wiring mess.

Dont know if you really want to swap to SD, remember it is a lot less forgiving when modding, also another thing to consider is that the MAF is not a problem as it is with the TPI, it isnt limited to the 255g/sec that the TPI is, but if you really want to..... order a 92-93 harness, get the 92-93 PCM, that should be all you need, may also need a tps adapter wire for the newer one unless they put a diff connector for it, my painless wiring kit came with an adapter for the newer engine but I have a 93 so i didnt use it, that should be all you need.

86 Z28, 93 LT1 swap in progress:
93 LT1
T5
Edelbrock Catback
Soon to come: Turbo and intercooler.
or,
in the tunercat software there is a setting to make the pcm run in SD mode.
now how well it works and stuff i dont know.
i myself was thinking of doing it until
i figure a way to make my cowl hood into a cold air.

convert to 92-93 LT1 ECM and modify your harness, OR convert to Accel LT1 DFI system or any other aftermarket programmable system.
thanks guys, I dont really want to switch to the 92-93 ECM, so I guess getting the Accel is really the only option. but I like the ability to program it with ease, thats something I'll have to look into down the road. thanks again
