400 is finally out
I finally pulled the 400 out of the donor car, and pulled it apart. I'm so happy!
Anyway, I have something i need verification on, there is a grey residue in many parts of the engine, i believe it is ground up abrasives (ie, sand, dust, dirt, gravel). the car is from the country, and there is a lot of plowed fields around here.
other than that, after i send it to the shop it will be all clean and ready to be built into one lean, mean, import and mustang eating machine.

I don't know, it was some nasty crap. it was everywhere. at first when i was taking the heads of, i thought it was the head gasket disintegrating, but it was on EVERY bolt, and in every nook and cranny where there was no oil flow.

That grey stuff was common back in the days of leaded fuel. It would get into the oil and coat stuff. Don't worry about it, since you're going through the engine and cleaning everything up anyway.

Actually that makes sense, it kinda had a texture of lead. And for the amount that i had on my hands, it was somewhat heavy.
