engine blocks, what does these numbers mean and how old are they?
engine blocks, what does these numbers mean and how old are they?
if anyone out there have this info. let me know. thanks!
engine 1: bottom rear GM 5.7L, E031
top rear: 14093638
each side: 638
in front: 627,613
engine 2: top front: 557752-3B
front also: B23-790
rear: 751-2 & F10
one side: 350

Looks like a 350 block cast May 3 of a year ending in 1 (would be 91 in this case); probably a roller block

buy yourself an interchange manual ($20) I did and found that I had hit a gold mine. I bought a 1985 T/A for $800 the guy said he threw a 350 in it I just found out it is a large journal 327 (which made more sense out of the 2000 and up power range.) plus they will tell you more golden information than websters.

Large journal 327 and 350 both use the same block... both have 4" bore and will accept either crank. You can't tell which one it is by the block number.
#2's numbers mean absolutely nothing to me, it could be anything. It would help if you can identify the mfr. Post some other details like distributor location, whether the crank is up in the block rather than "on teh surface" so to speak like Chevy motors are, fuel pump location, etc.
