? about swapping 5.7 TPI into a non-chevy car...

I found a deal on a 350 TPI Camaro for $1000. It is in rough shape, but runs nice, and has a lot of bolt ons, and low miles. I want to take the engine, fuel injection, and computer out of it and put it in my RX-7, and I would like to know how hard it will be. The car is an automatic, but I need to use a T5, as a TH-700R4/4L60 is too large to fit in the RX-7 tunnel. Is it possible? I know a T5 might not handle the power of the 5.7, but don't forget an RX-7 is a 2200# car.
So Basically, can a 350 TPI be used without its original tranny cheaply and with no drivability issues?

The RX is gonna get alot heavier with that drivetrain... and you will probably blow up the rear, but anyway

Its entirely possible, I know a couple people who have done it, I even helped on one of them. I am not sure the TPI will clear the hood though, I really dont think it will. The RX hood is really low.
I wouldnt worry about using the T-5 in there.

Are you absolutely positive the 700 wont fit? I know a THM350 will. I didnt think it was that much bigger...

I have been to those sites, and I know an RX-7 will be heavier, and I plan on adding a cowl hood, so I have that all worked out. i jsut wantyed to know the difficulty of the swap, and if it doesnt matter which tranny I use with the engine. I was planning on a carbed '79 350, but this thing fell into my lap, and I thought it would be fun.
