An interesting twist... A Cadillac Northstar engine???

Alrighty, my interests are piqued... Would a Northstar engine be a good swap in a 3rdgen or is it too much trouble? It got a lot of power, is light weight, and got great MPG to boot!

Has anyone done it? Has anyone tried it but did not work out? Let me know!

assuming you can fit in inbetween the shock towers, you can use a tranny from a 2.8, 3.1, or 3.4 v6. Or get and adapter from www.advanceadapters.com that would mount one of those engines to a v8 tranny.

FWD doesnt mean you cant use it, there are lots of hotrods running around with northstar engines in them. I know some are using overdriver autos, presumably the 700.

IMO for the cost of the swap, the LS1 is a better choice. The only thing the Northstar would get you is 'unusual' even though there are not many LS1's in thirdgens right now, I really think it will become more common in the future.
