Heads Comparable to AFR
Hey guys I've got a question regarding cylinder heads.
I have a 350 LO5 swapped into my '85 Iroc and I'm going to be doing the ECM swap to a '165 and tuning my own PROM for it. I decided to throw a new comp cams xfi 268 in the 350, but I need 1.6 rockers and new heads to compliment the cam. I currently have the TPI intake still and plan to keep it until i upgrade to HSR in the future.
My question is, does anybody have a comprehensive guide to flow rates of heads that would compete with the AFR 195 eliminators. I know the AFRs are fantastic but cost is definitely a concern for me. I have heard some trickflows will flow just as well as AFR195 out of the box and cost a lot less.
So, if anyone could recommend me some great heads that retail for reasonable prices that would work with my setup. Also, if there exists any sort of comparison between AFRs and other heads please throw me a link(i did a search but didn't find anything.) Thanks a ton!

look into darts iron eagles... a cast iron head that produce some awsome results. the only down fall is a lil more weight then an aluminum head... but will be able to take more punishment. and there is alot more then just flow to be concered with..
on a side note.. i hear and have experianced myself, with trick flow heads, some times valvetrain geometry can become an issue, cost my one friend his 400 small block, not trying to scare ya away from them, just some thing to keep an eye on.
you can lok on most manufactures websites for flow numbers and such, but just use them as a general guide, as they all measure in a diff. manner and results can very.

Pure internet lore. From the ones we have tested they are not even close. That being said you can still make decent power from the Trickflows.

This is a website that lists the flow of almost every cylinder head out there. http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tablehdc.htm
Its a good starting place.

Re: Heads Comparable to AFR
Those are old AFR 195 numbers... the new eliminators are 280+ cfm heads. Really cant beat them for 1450 bucks. I like the components they have.
Brodix IK heads are decent heads too. They come in 180 and 200 cc. If keeping TPI you can stick with 180 cc head but either would be ok with a 350. 200cc favors abit more cubic inches tho. AFR 195's work great on everything it seems, they have a relatively smaller cross sectional area, so port velocity is good so it can be used on smaller cubic inch engines without laggy soft bottom end feel.
may still beable to find some canfields or the JEGS copy of them. Those are decently priced heads with good flow characteristics.
Any aluminum head thats worth buying is still going to be in the 1100-1300 dollar range. AFR's are few hundred more at that point but the extra flow may not be necessary to achieve your hp goals.
