Awesome! I'm doing a similar build right now but I bought a slightly used 383 already assembled. I'm subscribed to this thread.

I'll make sure to post more pics as i get further along with the project. I should have the heads on within a month or so. Right now they're sitting at work on layaway with a bunch of other stuff for the build:-D I'll be sure to keep this updated:-D

Why the huge head with a moderate/smallish cam and a dual plane? You are limiting the HP potential of your heads but even with the smaller cam and dual plane it would still be a lot crisper with the proper sized head for your build.
What are you planning on running for a converter?

383s are probably known best for their low end power. My goal with this set up is to help the higher end a little but. As for thee cam, I went with that one because of clearance issues. A small base circle cam isn't out of the question in the future. But as for now, the current one will have to do since a got such a great deal. The heads are so big because I don't ever plan on leaving things alone with this car. I always want room to upgrade and at 500 dollars a head, I cpuldnt go wrong. I will be running a 3000 stall converter.

A 383 with some stock heads might be a torque monster down low but with those heads it will be a total dog. I have a 383 i built with 215 heads, a little over 11:1 compression and a similar solid roller cam and you can't pull it at all below 2500 and it really doesn't start to pull until 3000. There is a reason those heads are reccommended for 400ci or bigger motors. Not that they wont work with a 383 but you need to pull a lot more rpm.

Running a restrictive manifold into such a huge port is going to slow the intake charge to a crawl and thats only going to make it worse. Thats all i am saying.
