Help on 350 build up. Questions

Guys,
Have the car in the Signature obviously, it has VERY low compression, from 100psi to 120psi, consistant on all cylinders. The car runs pretty well still BUT has a miss and its driving me nuts, along with less than optimal performance. I have been trying to find an identical 350block like I have so I can get it assembled and ready to put my heads/cam into it.

Now, I'm looking to find a block that probly needs bored .030 over and the usual rebuild. What would you guys estimate a rebuild would cost? I'd like to use a stock crank, and maybe different rods/pistons(NEW). I'd like to be able to take the car to 6500rpms, I shift it at 6000 right now and it seems to hold up just fine.

What parts would you recommend?

Brendan

Ok, I've determined that I'm going to use my current crank.

I don't know the condition of the block right now, I'm assuming its the standard bore, I'm thinking .030 over, new pistons, connecting rods, rings, and arp bolts.

Could I get some brand/part number suggestions?? As to which parts people have had luck with and/or like?

Thanks,
Brendan

When budgeting my rebuild, I didn't factor in all the "cheap" parts (bearings, oil pump, etc) This stuff really adds up quick. Also, machine work will be one of your biggest expenses, depending on what you have done. I'm already way over what I planned on spending, and havn't even gotten to the heads yet. So far, I've got the rotating assy complete, Cam and lifters, oil pump, timing chain and gears. Counting machine work, I'm in over 1100 bucks, and haven't even gotten to the heads yet. Folks tried to me it was just as cheap to go with a ZZ4, and I'm beginning to believe its true.....have fun!!

Axle/Gears: 3.42
Bore/hone $90, install freeze plugs, cam bearings $45, tap passages for plugs $10, press old pistons off new ones on $35.

I recommend Keith Black pistons, they're beutiful for the price... And the Summit kit could be had with forged if you want, or you could get the kit w/o pistons ($230 or so) and it comes with all federal mogul stuff and brass plugs.
