The first thing you need to do is do a search on this forum - the question is asked and answered quite regularly.
Basically, everything you said needs to be changed except the driveshaft. Plus a lot more.
And, FWIW, you didn't get a good enough deal on this car to make it worth it unless you got it and a V8 donor car for free. Sorry, that's just the harsh reality of the economics since running V8 cars aren't that expensive.

Hi,
Sounds like a great deal to me, I dont know what 57 kid is talking about. I also dont know why you couldnt use the transmission? Its my understanding they use the same, rear end, driveshaft, transmission on the v-6s and v-8s. But you wont be able to use your computer or fuel injection. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing. I would prefer a properly tuned carb anyway.

What five7kid is talking about is that there is a lot to do for the swap. It's a much bigger swap (and more money) than when working from a V8.
But to be clear, if you love your car and you can't have it any other way it's worth the swap. I have a 305 TBI car, and it would have been much cheaper and much easier in the long run to have just gone out and bought a 350 TPI car, but when you love your car you are willing to put the money in it.
If you love the car you have, and you want to do it, go for it. There's at least five people who visit these boards who have done it, and probably way more than that.
Good luck and best wishes.

1992 Pontiac Firebird Formula (original 305 TBI) The project has begun:
just purchased 350 TPI, Dual fan setup, OEM Posi, GM 3.42 gears and JEGS Ultimate Support Cover for 7.5 rear.
1997 Chevrolet Camaro SS # 379 (1 of 371 Black, T-Top, 6-speed)
1973 Chevrolet Camaro RS/Z28
1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350
RIP Dale Earnhardt.
I'm old enough to know better, but still too young to care!--Wade Hayes

Im in the middle of a 2.8 V6 to 305 swap and let me tell you its not that easy. Fortunatley, the 305 I bought for $100 came with every accessory, bracket, bolt, wiring harness, computer, etc. If you dont have all the parts from the donor car, dont do it. It will be expensive. I bought a 87 Firebird for $500, the engine was $100 (complete!), headers $100, used engine hoist $50, various tools for pulling stuff like harmonic balencer $40, new gaskets $150, valve job $200, cans of throttle body cleaner...priceless!
Ive still got to buy new hoses for everything, and I traded some stuff I had for the distributor, a front swaybar, and I still have to buy some used V8 springs, cause you cant use the V6 springs with your new found weight!
Total so far: $1150
Oh, I also need new tires and a paint job, but we wont get into those prices

Like 92 said, you can do it - nobody is saying don't. Just understand all that's involved (search the archives), and don't try to justify it by thinking you're saving money.
