TPI SWAP HELP!!!!!

(I think I messed up my last post so if this is duplicate, please disregard!)

OK my L98 is dead, and I have a new 350 short block ready to go in. But before that, I have to get the old motor out.

Are there any tips or tricks that might make pulling the engine easier?
How hard is the swap in the first place?

Every time I look at that thing I see all the wires, and shiver at the thought of the project that's ahead of me.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get the new engine in and running right as quickly as possible?
Thanks!

Just mark all the wires and vac lines u disconnect with with tape and write either #'s on them or letters. That should make reconnecting everything no problem.

If u want u could also make a list of what u disconnect so u could check everything off as u put it back together just to make sure u don't miss anything. This is something I always do weither its a carbed engine or a fuel indjected one. There's nothining worse than haveing to hunt for something u forgot to reconnect.

Just swapped out my brother's blown L-98 for a miniram injected 400. I know what you mean about the wires. You look under the hood and just want to cry.

Just go slow and mark everything (and what DIRECTION it installs). When you're ready to yank the engine don't forget about the obvious stuff like unbolting the flexplate from the torque converter and undoing the engine mount bolts. They come out a lot easier with that kinda stuff disconnected.

I just finished doing this myself and was petrified to begin the job! Thgis was the first modern engine swap I've done and it went well. Took my brother-in-law and myself about 1 1/2 weeks to do it. Took our time and labeled everything. Most connectors are shaped in a way that the mating parts only connect with each other. It is not as tough as it looks. Good luck and dive in!!

The wiring itself is pretty much idiot proof, there are only a few connectors that could possibly be attached in the wrong spot, but its not likely. The real problem IMO is making sure you didnt forget any, especially the mess of ground wires the stock TPI setup has.
