Help choosing an engine with no emissions sh*t on it.

Hey all,

So i almost have my motor and trans out of my 86' Transam. I have some pictures I will try to post. Anyway, I believe it has a 305cid carbureted motor in it. All emissions stuff is gone, all wiring, sensors, have been snipped. Motor ran fine but leaked oil in a bunch of places. Oil pressure was always pegged at max. Im thinking of replacing the motor with a 305 or a 350 but I need your help. Regardless of what engine/trans combo I choose (either a 305 w/ 7004r or a 350/350 turbo trans) , does it matter what year motor/trans combo I choose and does it matter whether or not it came out of a truck? Also, If it has fuel injection stuff, can I pull it all off and just throw my intake/carb setup (edelbrock/weiand) on there? I really want a motor that i can simply remove all emissions stuff, bypass the computer, and not deal with any issues. I think my computer is disabled currently anyways. Please advise me on this. Also, does the 350 turbo trans mount to the drive shaft the same way as the 7004r? I cant find answers to these questions on here. Bottom line: I want to find a good low mileage 350 or 305 engine/trans combo and remove all emissions stuff and make it run smoothly...Thanks...

any year block will work - heads you want with accessory holes for p/s pump, alternator, etc.

carb vs. efi - yes you can carb it old school, with no emissions. Is it legal? federally no, state and county depends on where you live.

350 can go with 700R4 as well as turbo 350 - 700R4 will give better mileage, and you already have it. turbo 350 will require different trans crossmember, addition of a torque arm mount, and correct tailshaft for the stock driveshaft. 700R4 just easier, unless this is a track only car making way too much hp for a 700R4 (700R4 will easily handle 400hp).

All these questions have been answered 1000's of times on here - use and research.
