400 build up questions

I am in the middle of building up a 400 SBC and had a few questions.
I am installing a Scat crank, Eagle H-beam rods 'floating', and JE pistons.
The rods are chamfered on the large end of the rod it self to indetify which way the rod sits on the crank journal. The rod bearings that I have are chamered as well. My question is how important is it that the bearings be chamfered like the rods?
What is the purpose of the chamfer on the rod and bearing? If I go and buy a standard set of rod bearings from a local parts store, there is no chamfer on them.

Thanks

"Real" performance crankshafts have a big smooth radius ground into their journals where it meets the throw, to prevent stress concentration in that area. "Real" performance bearings have one side relieved to clear that. If you put regular replacement bearings into an engine with a properly ground racing crank, they will bind up from the edge of the bearing riding up on the radius and smashing the 2 rods on the one journal together.
