Is $1900-$2200 a good price for a new 305 TPI engine crate longblock installed by my nearest reputable shop???

If you intend to pay them $600-900 labor. I think the motor itself would be around $1200.
Check the prices of the actual parts and question how many labor hours will be involved and add them up.

 

I've been checking myself (w/o labor as I plan on doing the installation myself). You might want to check on a 350. The zz4 from gmpartsdirect is about 3400 with shipping. Its hard to argue with 355 horsepower.

 

Yea thats about right for a new engine fluids and R&R. But if you already have the TPI stuff a 350 is as much or cheaper than a 305. I beleive Nappa rebuild prices for 350 is 899$ and a 305 is 1000$ Wierd huh?

Ive also planned to swap out my 305 but ive decided on a 350 because what ive been told is all the tpi parts from a 305 will mount right up with a 350.Some parts will need to be changed and if you do a search on the boards you will find all that info. But I have to pay the core charge because they wont except a 305 block for a 350.

But if your looking to spend some money you should definitly check on a 350 because arourd here in Detroit a 350 is not much more if any then a 305. Plus thats more speed for the Iroc. Good luck!!
