Could it be done

I am currently looking for a ls-1 and my question is can someone point me into some info about makin a 350 ls-1 into a 383 stroker, that would be really awsome, a thirdgen w/ ls-1 and a t-56 6 speed! ahhhh drull!!

thanx

Yeah it can be done. The LS1 is 346 cubic inches, thus it's different bore x stroke measurements.

The LS1's bore is 3.90", the stroke is 3.62".

A 3.75 inch stroke is needed for a 383, provided you have a 4.030" bore to get that displacement.

Now, with a 3.75 inch stroke crank in a LS1, and a .030 inch overbore, the displacement would come out to 364 cubic inches.

The LS1 is already using a longer stroke than a 350, the 350 has a 3.48" stroke, so it wouldn't really be worth it to stroke the LS1, unless you are boring/stroking it over 400 cubes. If you wanted a cool 383, get a LT1, and do the whole 383 stroker kit deal. Or just take that potential money you are going to spend on a 364 LS1, and buy a LS6.

Whatever you do, PLEASE GET PICS! People do these cool swaps, and don't take pictures.

yes there is a 382 stroker. it was one of the first aftermarket things done to the LS1 when it came out by john Ligenfelter. There are even 412cid+ engines using the iron truck version of the LS1.

Thanx for the tech info, i have done my reserch and due to the problems that will/can arrise from doing the LT-1 thing i have not even considered that as an option, the whole reverse flow colant thing was riddled with problems, and there wouldnt be that big of a hp and whieght gain swaping a 350 TPI to a 350 LT-1, so i am gonna do some more reserch on the LS-1, i have found a few good sites, but they seem to lack real tech stuff, makin it thatmuch harder for me (ahh, you mean i actully have to do work to come up with an original idea , :-( what a concept lol) But i have a corvette scap yard next door to me so i will be makin a lot of trips out there to check things out, though i will not use a vett engine, due to the computer and "fly by Wire", it's just not fesible (sp) to do a vett to maro swap, I am still doing some reserch, but the only thing that will cause me some headachs are the Power Steering hoses, and the AC (live in tx so AC is a must) other than that it looks like a pretty straight forwrad swap, (www.mad-wires.com) has a wireing kit for it, and i am sure i can pick up a used LS-1 w/ a t-56 for less than 1.5k. Damn its going to be expensive,

I know this isnt the right board for this but does anyone have any information about the t-56 trans, i heard it pulls instead of pushs, which will be an a$$ to figure out. . .

I am going to start a site with this info but till then here are some sites to passify some one if they are also interseted in this swap (i hate givin ideas away, but two, three, or four people can get stuff done alot quicker)

if anyone else is interested let me know we can work together lol. i have a digital cam, so there will def be lot of pics, and a real tech stuff on the site,

thnx

We're also going to do the LS1 swap. Street & Performance has a 2 1/2 hr. vidio tape on the LS1, and has motor mounts they say will work, and a wiring harness. There web site is www.hotrodlane.com, I believe.

Sorry, I posted my reply under the wrong topic. The correct Street & Performance web site is www.hotrodlane.cc
