hey guys, i have a 1990 rs with a 305 tbi and the 700r4 tranny.
my father and i have been tryin to beef this car up and i was gonna run it to the car shows with him he has a 65 nova. anyways, he was in an accident recently and can no longer help me with this car. so...heres my problem im going to be puttin a 350 tbi in it. i got it off a guy a few weeks ago. it was from a 84-94 chevy truck thats all i know. it still runs and isnt too dirty... now.. i beleive this thing will drop in no problem and mount to the tranny... but will my "computer" work with this motor?
somebody told me it wouldnt and somebody told me it would.. somebody please tell me the truth and if its not too much trouble maybe guide me through the swap? thanks guys

Sorry to hear about your dad. Hope he gets back in action soon.

The LO3 (305) computer will run the LO5 (350), but not as well as it should. Computer tuning recommended.

 

thank you for the quick reply... how would i go about doing this "tuning" and is there anything else i should know.. my 305 runs and is in perfect shape.. the 350 didnt have the air box with it.. will my 305's air box fit... what all will swap over.. and what wont swap over..?

 

cheaper to get the computer from a junkyard then it is to get the old one tuned.
all parts as far as top end will bolt up to your 350, only thing that wont is the rotating assembly. It's a pretty simple swap that you are doing... shouldnt have too much difficulty.

 

now another question i have is.... the guy i got the car from said the torque converter wasnt locking up???? now is this going to be problem or can i run it that way....
