Motor Mount Swap

I am putting new motor mounts in my 1982 Z-28. From the looks of it, I need to remove the a-arms to do this. Does this sound right to you guys? Maybe I am looking at it wrong. Any help that anyone could offer is greatly aprreciated! Thanks!

I know some guys have done it without removing the upper control arms, but I think it's a lot less hassel to just take them out and do the mounts. I tried doing it with them in and after an hour of getting nowhere I pulled them off. Easy as cake then.

I pulled mine off. It's just the most direct route and you will be able to ensure proper torque of the bolts.

Youdon't need to remove a-arms. Simply take out the coil springs. It's very quick and easy if you have a second person--one to hold a wrench in the cross member on the nuts, and another to remove the bolts from the top.

haha, I didn't remove anything but the engine when I did mine. No dropping of control arm stuff, just needed somebody with a small hand to get the wrench into the crossmember.

Snap a wrench in a set of vise-grips, that will allow you to get a compound angle on the wrench to fit it through the coil spring.

The hard part is getting the nuts back on the new mount. Stuffing rags in the center part of the crossmember isn't a bad idea, otherwise your flexible magnet is going to get alow of use picking dropped nuts out of it.
