my first 3rd gen 86 firebird build

First introduction,I'm aka Sketter from Central Fl.I'm going to do my first 3rd gen build I type with one finger I'm 45 yrs old and have been out of the car building thing for 10 yrs. Due to raising a family of 3 boys I found this 86 Firebird on craigslist for $500.00 but paid $400.00 the car was garage kept. I got it home tried to start the car after putting the timing cover and etc. back on. Found out the fuel pump did not work so I pulled the tank down (how do they expect you to get this thing out) I pulled tons of stuff out of the way with no luck i pulled the fuel pump out while the tank hung there, just to find out it had alot of rust all over it. Oh no wright o yes the tank was so rusted out i could not believe it. So I started to look for a tank and pump 220.00 for a new tank plus our buddy uncle sam, then a pump 86.00 plus you no our uncle sam again. So again got on craigslist and found a 84 firebird w/ a 75 chevy 350 truck enginefor 500.. yes 500.00 again so looked at it. Edelbrock intake,Chrome Dip stick,Valve,Timing chain cover, but no carb. Someone stole it so could not start it. Checked the oil clean very clean, trans good too so gave him 470.00 for the car (oh yea has a nice cowl hood on it to) So I pulled the motor out of the 86 firebird (2.8) and trans to get ready for the swap. While the tank was out I started painting under the car with gloss black industrial enamel. Then washed hood area doing the same to it. Then i will finish the under side too. So thats were I'm now today. I m going to fire up the 350(i was told the car will lift the tires of the ground)I will believe it when i feel it!!! Of cource I will put in frame rail connectors in first because the 86 does have t-tops. I will start to take pics today on the build this will get everyone up to date on MY FIRST 3RD GEN FIREBIRD BUILD thanks for reading any advice during the build will be appreciated SKETTER

You'll gain traction (and lose acceleration) just by switching from 700R-4 to TH350, because of the TH350's crappy gearing.
